A Little History: LAKE WAUBEEKA

Nestled on 600 acres of rolling woodland in Southern Danbury, there is surprisingly little known about Lake Waubeeka and the residents like it that way! A Gated Lake Community which maintains its roots of a summer holiday community with many families having decided to enjoy the lake life year round.

Early history reflects the idea for the community starting in 1949. The group in which it originated was the Naer Tormind (Eternal Light) Society, an organization of Jewish members of the New York Fire Department. A 606 Acre Estate with a 50 acre lake owned by the Hiram Kellogg estate in Danbury was purchased and the private lake community founded in 1951. The natural coves and peninsulas of the tree-lined Danbury lake (whose water was pure enough for drinking) contrasted most favorably with their vision.

By 1952 most of the homes (262 clustered in small lots) were up and occupied and by 1954 the roads were completed.
